Jamie xx has direct access not only to the music I’ve always loved but also the music I never knew I loved. His interests and skills have grown from mix to mix and now, to claim that his current mixes are unreal would be an understatement. They are smart, intuitive, and futuristic. Each mix taps into the desires of the listener, producing a compilation of songs that leaves one satiated. I don’t know if it’s because I listen to them while working, doing the same thing over and over again, but each mix I’ve heard sounds so damn strong. It’s one thing to create a perfect mix of songs. It’s another to take one by surprise, to make them pause, to pull them out of their element to actually listen.
